I only have opened my safe 7-10 times and now when I put in the correct passkey it doesn’t open! The light beeps green twice and then red and it never opens. Thank goodness I didn’t lose the key. Very disappointed in this safe. The warranty link in the manual does not work either lol. I would not suggest buying liberty at this point as I won’t be ever again. Very disappointing. Considering everyone else is having this issue in the reviews. You’d think there would be a fix or an offer to replace it.

Have two of these that I bough about two years ago. At first they were great, but they have both become non functional as they can only be opened with the key. When you enter the code on top, the spring/piston isnt strong enough to open the top of the safe. They still technically keep the guns locked, but are useless as a quick access safe. Since they both have the same issue that developed in a similar amount of time, I would imagine its a common theme with this model.
I’ve had the HD 100 for 4 years, kept in a nightstand drawer for quick access. The 3rd year, it didn’t always open after entering pattern. I regularly replaced the battery, and honestly rarely opened it. Lately, after you enter the pattern, the green light flashes, but the mechanism doesn’t activate to open. You can’t lift it open either. I have to keep entering until it “pops” open, but even that is rather weak. It barely come up an inch, then you have to lift it up. I tried entering other combos, after light turned red, I would enter the correct combo and it would open, but not every time. If I keep re-entering the correct combo, it will eventually will open. But can’t imagine continuing to use this, in case there was an immediate need. Sad, because I used to hear all those ads about how great Liberty Safes were, but maybe that was for the high $$ safes. But honestly, if they can’t get this right for a simple single pistol safe, wouldn’t that make you question the integrity of the more complex safes? I gave 3 stars because it was good for a couple of years, so I feel I’m being charitable. This should work as expected for longer than 2 years. And yes, I tried a more stout spring, cleaned, and lubed the hinge and areas where I felt I wouldn’t damage any electronics. Nothing changed the issue.
Hi, thanks for the review and we're sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with your handgun vault. Please call our customer support at 800-247-5625.
Always heard great things about Liberty Safe, but so far I'm a little disappointed with the HD-100 Quick Vault. It's suppose to "auto-open" upon entering the combination, but it barely cracks open and then you have to lift the top door to get it to open the rest of the way. Read a bunch of bad reviews on the locking mechanism, so I'm a little worried about that. I all ready regret the purchase, I expected more from a $129 hand gun safe from Liberty. I was planning on buying a large safe from Liberty, but now I'm not so sure. Disappointed not to see a quick fix spring replacement offered from Liberty to get the door to spring open like its suppose to.
A quick trip to the hardware store for a "Handyman spring #SP-9709" will fix it. Cut that spring in half, then add a small washer, then add 1/3 of the of the original spring and it will work like it should of all along.
