HDV-150X

Build quality - good. Solid construction. Heavy duty. (first unit received had a non-functional latch, replacement is great)

Keypad code entry - works fine. No silent option like my old liberty HD-100. Not good for 4am openings or for emergencies. The old line of handgun safes had silent mode, why take it away?

Fingerprint reader - truly terrible. No amount of reprogramming, different fingers, etc. can get better than a 50% success rate. Online reviews that state higher success rates, but I can't make it work in the real world. Don't wash hands before an emergency - moist fingers are a no go. Push a little too hard, no go. Don't push hard enough, no go. Very narrow band of surface pressure that the reader can function at when reading fingerprints - takes 3 tries to figure out what works. Cellphone and laptop fingerprint readers are now 90-99% accurate. Handgun safe readers should be too. Can't depend on it to work when I need it to. Sensor takes too long to wake up.

Purchased a competing product and it works amazing. Everything works including a pushbutton to wake up the keypad/fingerprint reader instantly, a silent mode, a USB port to power the unit if the battery is dead, and reliable fingerprint reader. Was hoping HDV-150X was going to be the one I was bragged about. Love Liberty, but this one is a complete miss.

It's obvious that Liberty didn't ask any employees to take the HDV-150X home, use it and come back with constructive advice during the design effort.
